Vintage Yonezawa Space Patrol X-11 Battery Operated Toy Tank

www.opamerica.com Presenting an extremely rare, much sought-after, 1960's Yonezawa Space Patrol Battery Operated Toy! This vintage rocket toy was made in Japan by Yonezawa in the 1960's. The capsule measures 8 1 inches long and is 4" inches tall (without the antenna). The litho appears in great shape! Some light scuffs and scratches, and some light wear. I also notice the toy is missing it's antenna dish. I put in 2 size D batteries to test the toy out. The front capsule opened, lit up, and the tank moved around. The was also a clicking motor sound. I found some information about this toy in the book Vintage Toys: Robots and Space Toys: "Resplendent in Vietnam era green, Yonezawa's Space Patrol circa 1964 is wartime toy making at its finest. During periods of military activity, toys inevitabley take on attributes which are identified with the social conflict of the day. In the case of space toys, this means silver-blue lithographic designs gave way to olive drab, as on Space Patrol. It features 'non fall action' (mystery action), which lets it travel to a table's edge yet always remain in action, out of danger. For enhanced impact, Yonezawa included a rotating stamped tin antenna dish and a disappearing cockpit feature, which opens and closes during operation. All the while, the toy's insect like coil spring antennae flop haplessly.
